LIZ Hurley slammed the “brutal attack” on her nephew yesterday in which he almost had his spine severed - amid fears he was targeted by gangsters.
The actress flew back from a promotional tour in the US to be with Dolce & Gabbana model Miles Hurley, 21, as he battled for life in hospital.
Taking to Instagram earlier, Liz said 'by some miracle' none of her nephew Miles Hurley's vital organs were damaged in the savage attack.
She said: "My 21-year-old nephew Miles Hurley was brutally attacked by four men in London on Thursday night.
"He was repeatedly stabbed and lost more than four pints of blood. A policeman was patrolling close by and administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.
"The deepest wound just missed severing his spine. By some miracle no vital organs were damaged.
"We are praying that these animals are caught before they maim, or even kill, someone else. These are sad days."
Previously, the star, 52, took to Twitter to share the heartbreaking news, thanking fans for their support in what she described as an "appalling time" for the family.
In one she wrote: "My 21 year old nephew was repeatedly stabbed in a brutal attack in London on Thursday night.
"The police & hospital are being fantastic.
Thank you for all your messages. It is an appalling time for him & our family.
"The police will be appealing for witnesses."
Liz tweeted how the deepest wound just missed severing his spine.
Miles, 21, was attacked in Nine Elms, South West London, at 8pm on Thursday following an assault by a group of men and was rushed to hospital.
Sources believe it was part of a local feud.
It is understood that he was stabbed several times in the horrific attack, and the Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement that another 21-year-old was also stabbed.
They described the two boy's conditions as not life threatening or life changing.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 20.52 on Thursday, 8 March to Ascalon Street, SW8 following reports of a stabbing.
"Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service (LAS). A 21-year-old man was discovered with stab wounds to his back.
"Another man, also believed to be aged 21, was also found suffering from stab wounds.
"They were both taken by LAS to a south London hospital where their conditions are described as not life-threatening or life-changing.
"They are believed to have been attacked by a group of males who got out of a vehicle and assaulted them before fleeing the scene.
"There have been no arrests."
Liz dashed back to Britain as Miles was fighting for his life in hospital, and was pictured arriving at Heathrow Airport on Friday morning.
A source said: “His family feared the worst. Fortunately, it seems the knife missed his vital organs.”
Liz is especially close to Miles, whose mum is her older sister Kate Curran, 54.
On the day of the attack, Miles had paid tribute to his aunt in a post celebrating International Women's Day.
He posted a touching snap of her with another family member, writing: "Love & appreciation for all the strong, happy and independent women around me."
Miles has done shoots for fashion king Roberto Carvalli and Dolce & Gabbana, and is signed top modelling agency Next Model Management.
Liz was in the US promoting her show The Royals.
She is known to be very fond of Miles and in 2013 proudly tweeted one of his early modelling shots, declaring “Here’s my handsome nephew”.
Miles has spoken publicly before about his close relationship with Liz, saying “I’m really close to my aunt and she’s very supportive of everything I do.”
