BRITAIN will be as warm as the Med this weekend as a tropical storm brings 15C temperatures - and thunderstorms.
Today sees the last of the "Pest from the West" as hot air brings temperatures to rival those in Rome.
Forecasters predicted a bright and sunny start for many areas across the UK, adding that cloud and rain would push through the south over the course of the day.
The last of the snow was due this morning, as the Met Office issued a yellow snow warning for the Highlands.
Elsewhere though, mild tropical air will be sweeping across the UK, with many areas in the south set to reach temperatures up to a balmy 15C tomorrow.
The warmer weather conditions are caused by a change in wind direction, with a south-westerly airflow set to bring in more humid conditions from the Atlantic.
As the day goes on conditions will change once again, with "soggy" weather set to hit much of England and Wales.
Greg Dewhurst from the Met Office said there would be a "North South split", with North England generally experiencing dryer, sunnier but colder weather, and the South experiencing muggier, warmer temperatures.
Higher temperatures will be teamed with heavy rain in from the South West from tomorrow, with forecasters predicting unsettled conditions for much of the UK.
Some areas could briefly escape the misery, with Eastern areas like Norfolk and East Anglia enjoying a warm and bright day on Saturday.
But thunderstorms and hail will sweep across much of the UK, beginning in the South and South West on Sunday.
LATEST IN WEATHER
Greg Dewhurst from the Met Office said the tropical blast would be a "one day thing", with temperatures set to return to "normal" March temperatures after peaking this weekend.
"We're set to return to more normal March temperatures next week, around the 10 to 11C.
"It will feel much milder, though there'll be no wall-t0 wall sunshine."
