Woman harassed by mystery Facebook troll who poses as her online with sick posts about kids
Amelia Barker, who is a mum to a young son and a popular photographer, has been tormented by the vile posts about children made by an unknown troll for over 18 months
A MUM has been forced to publicly deny being a PAEDOPHILE after being targeted by a mystery Facebook troll.
Amelia Barker, 25, has been the victim of a long-running campaign by the vile troll, who poses as her online to post a string of sick messages.
The disturbing posts in her name include "little girls are hot", "I find 2-8 year old's sexually attractive" and references to "babies vaginas".
Amelia has reported the sick messages to the police, who are powerless as the troll hides behind the anonymity of social media.
The photographer today told the Sun Online: "Loads of people message me saying: 'is this you?'
"One of my customers even shared a post saying she was disgusted she's let me photograph her children.
"I cleared it up with her, but I couldn’t believe people would actually think it was me.”
The abuse first started 18 months ago, and although Amelia thought it had died down, it restarted at the beginning of this week.
The troll set up a string of fake accounts, using Amelia's name, picture, and business logo, and posting more sick messages.
Posting herself in desperation, Amelia wrote: 'I’m at my wits end. 18 months this has been going on now. My business was attacked and several times I woke up in the morning to hundreds of messages from people, some on the other side of the world giving me abuse.
"These posts are disgusting. Facebook have helped in removing the accounts but a new one pops up straight away. The photo they’re using is of me from 2016. The police haven’t helped much either. Understandably there isn’t much for them to go off when the profiles are being removed.
"This is literally ruining my life. I work with children. I have a child of my own. I shouldn’t have to inform people I’m not a paedophile.
"I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this or who hates me this much. Not much I can do but keep posting what’s happening and hoping everyone understands that I’ve got nothing to do with this sick bastard.
Amelia contacted the police over the bizarre and twisted posts, but says there’s nothing they can do unless Facebook can retrieve the account and trace the IP.
She said: “I don’t know where to go from here, I’m lucky that I’ve got the support of my customers – that’s the only reason my business hasn’t been completely wrecked.
“I think it’s possible that this person is one of my friends on Facebook but I honestly haven’t got a clue. I don’t know anyone who hates me this much or would be sick enough to do something like this. I’m holding onto hope that it’s some sick random troll that doesn’t know me.
“It’s the lesser of two evils if it’s someone I don’t know."
Greater Manchester Police have said "enquiries are ongoing to understand the full circumstances" of the harassment.
Facebook have said they are currently investigating.
