FAMILIES in Cumbria are still snowed in as the rest of the country thaws out.
People living in one of England’s highest villages, Nenthead, woke up to find huge snow drifts had fallen overnight across the North Pennines. They now have mountainous tasks digging out their homes.

A team of council workers used snow blowers, ploughs and tractors to reach those mostly affected near Alston on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the MET office confirmed that it had snowed overnight but that the snow was slowly melting.
