Shamed Harley Street doctor accused of doping 150 athletes to boost their sporting performance quits Britain
Mark Bonar found himself at the centre of the 2016 doping scandal after Dan Stevens revealed the shamed doc prescribed him performance-enhancing drugs
A DOCTOR accused of doping 150 athletes to boost their sporting prowess has quit Britain and retired aged 40, it emerged yesterday.
Mark Bonar had faced being struck off at a disciplinary tribunal.
It heard drugs cheat cyclist Dan Stevens had gone to UK Anti-Doping with claims that Bonar prescribed performance-enhancing drugs, but it took “no further action”.
Stevens then went to The Sunday Times, which sent an undercover reporter to investigate.
Bonar, of Westminster, London, denied the allegations, insisting he only treated athletes for medical reasons.
But he sent an email to the Manchester tribunal, stating: “I have retired from clinical practice and am living abroad.”
