Alien hunters claim a crash landed spaceship on remote island off Antarctica is pictured on Google Earth
Bizarre object appears to have slid before grounding to a halt on South Georgia Island off Antarctica
A MYSTERIOUS object found on a remote island off Antarctica has sparked theories of a crash-landed spaceship.
Alien hunters believe the bizarre tracks left behind the large object may suggest extra-terrestrial origins.
It was found on South Georgia Island — a British territory with a population of 20.
Using satellite mapping, web theorists at well-known alien site Secureteam10 zoomed in on the unknown mass near the 10,000ft tall Mount Paget.
It appears to have slid for a considerable distance before grounding to a halt.
Footage of the object posted online yesterday has already garnered more than 100,000 views.
But many believe the object is little more than a rock that has been pushed along from the nearby glacier.
A viewer who claimed he had been station on the island with the Royal Navy punctured the ET theory.
Rain606 said: "The research station on the island asked us to fly a photographic recce over the entire island to document population and locations of reindeer.
"As the photographer on that recce, I can confirm 100 per cent that what you see in the image is just the result of a glacial slide. Sorry."
Others saw a funny side to the clip.
One joked: "Santa had a little to much to drink".
