MAN United legend Gary Neville stunned an audience of businessmen by calling for Theresa May to be sacked.

The footballer-turned-pundit said the PM was “failing miserably” and “is not the best person available” to run the country.

Neville, 43 — who lasted just four months as Valencia boss and was Roy Hodgson’s assistant when England crashed out of Euro 2016 — was invited to talk about his businesses post-football.

But he launched into a tirade against Mrs May, using the jargon of key performance indicators (KPIs) to put the boot in.

He told the Quickbooks Connect event in London: “The Prime Minister is the CEO of this country. As the CEO it should be the best person available — she is not.

“She has to make sure everyone has a wonderful education, everyone has fantastic access to health service, everybody has fantastic transport and we’re safe as a country.

“If you think about the five KPIs she has, she’s failing miserably.

"So she needs sacking.”

There was some applause at the remarks — in an interview onstage with TV’s Gabby Logan — but she and others were shocked.
