MAKING HIS MARX

John McDonnell celebrating Marxism ‘proves Labour will impose communism on Britain’

Tories tore into the news that the Shadow Chancellor will speak at an event marking 200 years since the birth of the author of the Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx

JOHN McDonnell’s keynote speech at a celebration of Karl Marx is proof that Labour would make Britain a communist country if they got into power, Tory MPs have said.

John McDonnell will give a speech later this year on how to make Marxism relevant today

He will speak alongside the General secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sitaram Yechury, on how to make Marxism relevant in the 21st century.

Activists will celebrate the revolutionary socialist philosopher through a series of events, conferences and new book releases.

The news comes after The Sun revealed that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had met a Czech spy on several occasions.

The Labour Shadow Chancellor… mocked up to look like Marx

David Morris told “It is beyond belief that Labour’s shadow chancellor thinks Marxism, a failed ideology that led to the impoverishment and deaths of millions, can be a ‘force for change today’.

“It shows how wildly out of touch the Labour Party has become and how damaging they would be for our economy and working people.”

And Daniel Kawczynski, who fled Communist Poland as a child, said it was proof that Labour would become Communist under Mr Corbyn’s leadership.

He said: “If there were to be a Labour government it would be the closest we have come to having a Communist ideology imposed in our country.

“To people like me who lost friends and family to governments that espoused that ideology that would be completely unacceptable.”

Mr Corbyn has previously said Marx was a “great economic thinker” and Mr McDonnell praised his leftie text Das Kapital.

And Jean Claude Juncker has caused similar outrage with the news that he is set to unveil a statue of the political philosopher in Germany.

The EU Commission boss was accused of ignoring the millions of deaths that The Communist Manifesto led to.

Mr McDonnell’s spokesman said: “John McDonnell attends many academic conferences on a range of subjects.”

Last week more claims about the Labour leader’s alleged links to spies came to light.

After The Sun revealed he had met with spy Jan Dymick, it was also revealed that the CIA were keeping tabs on him when he visited Communist countries.

But yesterday the Labour leader said had “no regrets” over the meetings and says they spoke about “disarmament and peace”.

He insisted: “I met him, as did a number of other people, he was the diplomat working in the Czech embassy and his job was to talk about peace and detente.”

Mr Corbyn added: “If you’re a serious member of parliament and serious about international affairs you meet people, you don’t agree with most of them, but you have to meet them to understand what their position is and try and put forward your own view on peace, justice and human rights.”

The Labour leader also told the Wolverhampton Express & Star yesterday: “I did what I believed any other MP would have done”.

Liam Fox said over the weekend that Jeremy Corbyn “undermined Britain’s security” in the Cold War, and that Labour were “useful idiots” to their cause.
