Spies wanted MONTHLY meet-ups with Jeremy Corbyn, files reveal

CZECH spies were keen to meet Jeremy Corbyn once a month, according to unearthed records.

Security officer Lt Jan Dymic told his bosses in November 1987 that contact with the hard-left Labour MP should be regularly maintained.

He wrote of Mr Corbyn in archived files discovered in Prague: “Meetings should be arranged on a monthly basis.”

Records show the pair met for the last time in September 1988, a few months before Dymic was expelled from the UK for spying. He advised his successor to continue seeing Mr Corbyn, who had an “active supply of information on British intelligence services”.

The Labour leader has said he did not give away any “privileged information” and believed Lt Dymic was a diplomat.

But archives boss Svetlana Ptacknikova said: “There were at least four meetings. He certainly has some questions to answer about this. Mr Corbyn was certainly a person of interest to the Czech secret service, and a known Marxist.”

Files report Mr Corbyn discussed people linked to “anti-communist agencies” — believed to be MI5 and MI6 — and warned Soviet-backed agents of British intelligence actions.

BBC reporter Steph McGovern yesterday asked him: “Are you a Czech spy?” Corbyn replied: “No.”

Lt Dymic claimed Mr Corbyn, shadow chancellor John McDonnell and former London mayor Ken Livingstone provided information to Soviet-backed agents for cash. All vehemently deny it.

Experts claim other documents may have been destroyed when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990.
