Harvey Weinstein’s production company sued for failing to protect staff from his ‘threats to kill and verbal abuse’
HARVEY Weinstein’s film company is being sued after an investigation into sexual misconduct.
New York prosecutors have filed a lawsuit against Weinstein Company, alleging the studio failed to protect some staff from the movie mogul.
The film producer is facing dozens of allegations of sexual abuse, including rape.
But Weinstein has strongly denied non-consensual sex.
In court papers, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the Weinstein Company "repeatedly broke New York law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination".
Mr Schneiderman also says that any sale of the company "must ensure that victims will be compensated" and protect staff.

An investigation of his firm later found allegations that his staff faced verbal threats like "I will kill you" or "I will kill your family".
Female members of staff were said to have been insulted while sexual favours were allegedly demanded.
Telephone and email messages seeking comment from Weinstein were not immediately returned.
In a statement last night, Weinstein's attorney, Ben Brafman, says that while his client "was not without fault, there certainly was no criminality".
The Weinstein Company is yet to comment.
