An investigation was launched by Manchester City Council - but she brazenly refused to talk to their waste management department.

After pleading guilty to fly tipping at Manchester Magistrates court, she was fined £560 and ordered to pay £125 in costs.

Just days later a rogue waste collector was fined £620 for dumping a fridge and several bags of rubbish in South Manchester.

The fridge was traced to a South Manchester man who told investigators that he paid "a man with a van" to dispose of the waste.

William O'Donnell, 54, was found to be the registered owner of the van, and soon admitted lending it to a pal for fly-tipping.

He admitted that his mate did not own a licence to transport and dispose of waste.
O'Donnell, 54, was fined £140, plus £450 costs and a victim surcharge of £30.

Nigel Murphy, Manchester City Council's executive member for neighbourhoods, said:

"These cases show that by working together, we can catch and punish unscrupulous fly-tippers.

"It causes real and justifiable anger in our communities when waste is illegally dumped and so we welcome any information from our residents that helps us to track down those responsible.

"Our dedicated team will investigate all reported fly-tipping incidents and will not hesitate to prosecute those found to be acting illegally."
