The head teacher at Brunel Junior School in Portsmouth seems to have blown his career of 22 years away after necking three bottles of wine and setting off in his car to get cocaine
A JUNIOR school’s sozzled head ran two red lights after driving to buy cocaine.
Married Iain Gilmour, 48, made the £200 drug deal after necking three bottles of wine and clambering into his car.
Cops found the half-gram of coke when they pulled him over. He was twice the drink-drive limit.
Yesterday, as a court hit him with an 18-month driving ban, he blamed his booze and drugs shame on the pressures of being a head.
He said: “I would like to publicly apologise to my family, the parents, children and staff.”
Gilmour, a teacher for 22 years, is head of Brunel Junior School in Portsmouth.
He was suspended following his arrest in the city and faces the boot. JPs there also fined him £1,750 after he admitted drink-driving and possessing a class A drug.
Gilmour said he had stupidly got drunk and given in to a “desire for something stronger”.
He told the court his career was in ruins and he was fighting to save his marriage.
The school said: “We will now commence disciplinary procedures.”
