BBC presenter urged followers to send Brexit-backing Zac Goldsmith death threats
After sharing a shocking death threat letter sent to a pensioner in his constituency, Goldsmith was told by gardening correspondent St John Stephen 'it should have been addressed to you'
A BBC presenter sparked fury yesterday after urging people to send death threats to a prominent Brexit backer — but Beeb bosses refused to sack him.
BBC London were urged to cut ties with gardening correspondent St John Stephen after an extraordinary Twitter attack on Tory Zac Goldsmith.
After Mr Goldsmith shared a shocking death threat letter sent to a pensioner in his constituency, Mr Stephen’s hit back to say “it should have been addressed to you”.
The letter read: “We are coming for you. We are going to kill you.”
In response to the vile incitement, Goldsmith Tweeted: "The 'We are going to kill you' message should have been addressed to me, says delightful @BBC broadcaster."
The Tory MP accompanied his Tweet with a picture of the message and another of the small biography from Mr Stephen's Twitter profile, in which he describes himself as a 'Gardiner, broadcaster and poet with a fortnightly slot on BBC Radio London.'

But BBC chiefs last night refused to say Mr Stephen would be sacked after he issued a grovelling apology.
Insisting they did not publicly comment on staffing matters, a spokesman said: “He is a freelance gardening contributor.
“This was clearly unacceptable.”
