Man discovers fiancee is a perfect match for life-saving kidney transplant — at 100,000 to one odds
A TEACHER needing a kidney transplant to survive discovered his fiancee was a life-saving match — at odds of 100,000 to one.
Jay Charles, 39, had a rare blood condition and renal failure aged 11.
He has already had two kidney transplants due to illness and was told last October that he needed another op.
Girlfriend Mel Greenall, 44, immediately asked the consultant: “How do I give him mine?”
A series of tests followed and they were told of the match in January. He will have the op in the summer.
Jay, who lives with Mel in Whitby, North Yorks, where he has now opened his own clothes shop, added: “We’re a perfect match anyway.
