Elsie was walking with her mum and two older sisters, aged seven and four, on the school run when the accident happened in Holwell, Road, outside North Point Shopping Centre, on Monday at 8.30am.

She suffered head injuries and was rushed to hospital where she has undergone an operation and is now stable.

A family pal launched a campaign to help with travel costs as Hull-based Elsie is being treated 60 miles away in Leeds.

Miss Ede, who is transgender and also from Hull, donated £500.

The fundraising campaign has already raised £2,282.

The page says: "As every mum, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparent and friend knows, we drop everything to be with people when most needed (its what we do best).

"Sometimes though this can cause financial worries. As Elsie is so far away from her family home and two sisters it is going to cost a lot to keep them together to be able to allow Elsie to mend quicker.
