Transgender lotto winner donates £500 to family of a three-year-old seriously injured in a road accident
Melissa Ede, 57, decided to share her wealth after she was touched by tot Elsie Blakestone's accident
A TAXI driver who won £4million on a scratchcard has donated cash to the family of a three-year-old seriously injured in a road accident.
Melissa Ede, 57, was touched by the plight of Elsie Blakestone, who suffered head injuries after being hit by a van.
Elsie was walking with her mum and two older sisters, aged seven and four, on the school run when the accident happened in Holwell, Road, outside North Point Shopping Centre, on Monday at 8.30am.
She suffered head injuries and was rushed to hospital where she has undergone an operation and is now stable.
A family pal launched a campaign to help with travel costs as Hull-based Elsie is being treated 60 miles away in Leeds.
Miss Ede, who is transgender and also from Hull, donated £500.
A source said: “Melissa was upset after hearing about the accident.”
Elsie is stable after an op in hospital.
A source said: "Melissa has never had this sort of money before. The girl is also from her home city of Hull."
The fundraising campaign has already raised £2,282.
The page says: "As every mum, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparent and friend knows, we drop everything to be with people when most needed (its what we do best).
"Sometimes though this can cause financial worries. As Elsie is so far away from her family home and two sisters it is going to cost a lot to keep them together to be able to allow Elsie to mend quicker.

"Please can you help, any donation is most welcome and we will be very grateful. All donations will go towards travel, upkeep, living etc."
The van driver was quizzed but has not been arrested by cops who are appealing for witnesses.
Earlier this month Melissa revealed she would not be sharing her small fortune with her kids after they had disowned her.
