A CRUEL father dumped his newborn daughter in a BIN because he thought she was going to die.
Chilling CCTV footage shows the man, from Xuanwei in China, approaching the skip with her in a bundle in his arms.
He had put the child, born just two hours earlier, in a paper bag before putting her in the pile of rubbish.
He was then seen hurriedly walking away with his hands in his pockets having ditched his daughter when it was just 10C outside.
However, an elderly lady - dubbed a 'guardian angel' - heard the baby's wails and picked her out of the rubbish.
She was found to have her umbilical cord still attached and put into the care of local authorities, reported the .
Police tracked the man down and he claimed that after his girlfriend gave birth, the baby began to turn purple.
He said he had left the child on a bed for a hour or so while he tended to his recovering girlfriend.
He said the birth had taken place at their flat and that there was no doctor present.
He thought the change in colour meant the baby was "incurable"
Medics, who examined the baby after she had been rescued, said she was in fine health and had changed colour because she was cold.
The incident took place last Monday and police arrested the man and his girlfriend on Tuesday evening.
The baby has now been given to an orphanage.
