Where is Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro?

It is a 2.5 mile long beach in the southern part of the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

It is one of the most famous beaches in the world.

The district was traditionally called Sacopenapa, which means "the way of the socos [a kind of bird]" in the Tupi language.

It was renamed after a chapel was built holding a replica of the Virgen de Copacabana - the patron saint of Brazil.

The promenade is 4km long and was rebuilt in 1970.
