Post-Brexit trade deal at risk if Donald Trump is snubbed by Harry and Meghan, author claims

BRITAIN'S post-Brexit trade deal hangs in the balance of an invite to Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding, it has been claimed.

Michael Wolff, who has made headlines with his newly released book Fire and Fury and its claims about the US President, revealed that Trump would only honour the relationship between Britain and America if he "gets what he wants".

, the author said that the 71-year-old President would not take well to missing out on a wedding invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day, saying: "He doesn't like being snubbed and wants to be the centre of attention all the time.

"Trump's foreign policy doctrine is simple: you Brits suck up to him and enlist in whatever geopolitical fantasy he has going, he'll give you what you want – though only if it doesn't hurt him. It is not so much vengeance, rather 'you flatter me and I'll flatter you'."

Wolff has not backed down from the recent claims he made in his controversial book, which included that he did not think he would be elected as the US President.

Having previously claimed that the President was semi-literate, he has also since added that Trump had "no idea" about Brexit as late as two weeks before the referendum that saw Britain vote to leave the EU.

He said that Trump would not be diplomatic, and instead treat the situation in "reality TV show terms", saying: "He sees the Queen in reality TV show terms. That's the Trump modus operandi. He will try to Trumpalise the Queen and Buckingham Palace."

The government has already reportedly had to plead with Prince Harry not to invite his pal former President Barack Obama to his upcoming nuptials, for fear of offending Trump.

The White House and Trump himself have vehemently denied Wolff's claims, with the President himself saying the author was a “total loser” and saying his bombshell book Fire and Fury is “boring and untruthful".

Press secretary Sarah Sanders also described the claims as "disgraceful and laughable".

But that hasn't held back the book's popularity, with crowds queuing outside stores around the US.

Gossip columnist Wolff conducted around 200 interviews with White House staff for Fire and Fury which is set to be one of the biggest selling books of the year.

The litany of bombshell claims in the book include that First Lady Melania "cried" when Trump won the election.

Prince Harry has admitted the guest list hasn't yet been finalised – so beyond knowing that the likes of The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William will be invited, it's all still to play for.

It's inevitable that the wedding will be attended by a host of foreign royals, as well as significant political figures from across the Commonwealth.

And with Meghan counting the likes of Serena Williams and her Suits on-screen partner Patrick J. Adams among her celeb pals, expect plenty of famous faces.
