Author Michael Wolff says his ‘Fire and Fury’ book will topple Trump’s presidency as Don insists he’s a ‘very stable genius’
THE author behind Fire and Fury has sensationally claimed his bombshell book could bring down the US President.
Michael Wolff told BBC radio that his belief that the brash billionaire is not fit to be commander-in-chief is becoming a widespread view among the American public.
He said: "I think one of the interesting effects of the book so far is a very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect.
"The story that I have told seems to present this presidency in such a way that it says he can't do his job.
"Suddenly everywhere people are going 'oh my God, its true, he has no clothes'.
“That's the background to the perception and the understanding that will finally end ... this presidency."
But Trump blasted Wolff’s suggestion that he is “illiterate” and that his staff think he is a “moron” by insisting he is a “very stable genius”.
In a series of early morning explosive tweets, Trump said that "throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart.
“Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames.
"I went from VERY successful businessman, to top TV Star to President of the United States (on my first try).
“I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that!"
Holding a press conference later in the day, he claimed the book was a "work of fiction", even hinting that he wanted to see stronger libel laws.
Speaking to journalists, he said: "It's a disgrace that he can do something like this.
"Libel laws are very weak in this country. If they were stronger, hopefully, you would not have something like that happen."

He also said Wolff didn't even know him, adding: "It's in his imagination."
Earlier, Trump branded Wolff a “total loser” while claiming his bombshell book Fire and Fury is “boring and untruthful".
In an explosive tweet, the former Apprentice Host also claimed former White House chief strategist “Sloppy Steve Bannon” cried when he was fired and "begged" for his job back.
Bannon, who also worked on Trump’s successful election campaign, criticised the billionaire’s children in his interviews with Wolff.
On Friday evening, Trump tweeted: “Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book.
“He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!”
Gossip columnist Wolff conducted around 200 interviews with White House staff for Fire and Fury which is set to be one of the biggest selling books of the year.
The litany of bombshell claims in the book include that First Lady Melania "cried" when Trump won the election.
The book also claims that Trump and his campaign team "didn't actually want to win the election" and that the President "eats cheeseburgers in bed while watching three TVs at once".
