SMILES AT CHRISTMAS

Anonymous reader donates £20,000 to The Sun’s Smiles At Christmas campaign to help children with cancer

Morrisons generously matched the donation, which will support kids like Callum, three, who was diagnosed with leukaemia at 11 weeks old

THE Sun’s Smiles at Christmas appeal has been given a huge boost with an anonymous donation of £20,000 by a big-hearted reader.

And Morrisons Foundation, the supermarket’s charity arm, has now matched the generous handout.

Every penny has gone straight to cancer charity CLIC Sargent and is helping 3,800 families affected by childhood cancer this Christmas.

Thousands of you have given what you can since we launched the appeal at the start of the month featuring Callum Tolley, of Northwich, Cheshire.

The lad, now three, was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was only 11 weeks old.

But we still need as much as you can spare to make these children smile.

Your crucial donations will fund accommodation for parents whose kids are being treated in hospitals far from home this Christmas.

It will also pay for specialist children’s cancer nurses, and toys to comfort sick kids.

Presenter Katie Piper, 34, who gave birth to a second daughter last week, is backing The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas with CLIC Sargent appeal.

She said: “It breaks my heart to think that kids get cancer — but especially at Christmas.

"It’s vital that they and their families can have all the support they need.

“Smiles at Christmas is a very worthy campaign, which will make a huge difference to children’s lives.”
