Man glassed in Parliament bar brawl is a top lawyer and crossword champ
Peter Brooksbank, 63, intervened after a fight broke out between another man and one of the bar staff
A TOP lawyer and crossword champ was the man glassed after a row in a bar at Parliament, The Sun can reveal.
Peter Brooksbank, 63, is said to have intervened as another man argued with a barman.
Yesterday he was back at work in the Commons with a bandaged head following hospital treatment.
He is deputy counsel on a committee that scrutinises legislation — and a veteran of the prestigious Times National Crossword Championship.
The other man in Tuesday’s bust-up at the taxpayer-subsidised Sports and Social Bar was said to be a Commons maintenance worker. The alleged glassing happened outside the bar.
Cops arrested a 56-year-old on suspicion of GBH and affray.

He was later released but the Met said inquiries were continuing. The bar, yards from the Commons chamber, was shut down by parliamentary officials who launched an investigation.
In 2010 Mr Brooksbank joked after a colleague pipped him to a crossword title: “I’m going to have to kill him.”
Yesterday he did not respond to a request for comment.
