Meghan Markle excitedly talks about auditioning for £445 backing dancer job when she was a jobbing actress in incredible never-before-seen home movie
PUSHING her hair back from her face, the future bride of Prince Harry beams at the camera – excited over her most recent audition.
Meghan Markle was just 18 when she went for a role in Shakira’s new music video, with the jobbing actress giddy at the prospect of the potential gig.
It’s Meghan Markle as you’ve never seen her, with the incredibly candid home movies shot while the teen was just a wannabe star.
And there isn’t a hint of the Royal glamour and princess lifestyle in store for her.
The exclusive film was shot in one day in the summer of 1999, with Meghan revealing how nervous she was to dance in front of five people “just watching me” before the audition.
Speaking to the camera, held by her then best friend Ninaki Priddy, teen Meghan revealed after the audition: “This is the aftermath of the audition and it went pretty well.
“We just had to dance crazily and, um, so I did and it was um, tiring.”
Steering her car around the corner and blowing bubbles with some gum, she excitedly recounted what she had to do, saying: “We just all danced like wild women and I was shaking my hair around and all sorts of stuff, so hopefully I’ll book that.
“It’s six hundred dollars for two days and if not then I’ll probably get extra work for it which would be just as good.
“I won’t get any camera shots but it will be just as fun.”
Constantly pushing her hair back from her face and adjusting her strapless top, she added: “I am burning up, I was really nervous I was going to fall out of my top I was just shaking around so much.”
Meghan had already had her music video breakthrough in Tori Amos’ 1999 hit 1000 Oceans – shot in an LA car park.
But the teen didn’t end up getting the Shakira job, which would worth about £445 today, with then friend Ninaki lifting the lid on the soon-to-be-royal’s early career struggle.
The home videos are a million miles away from Meghan’s life now, with the US actress to become the Duchess of Sussex after her May wedding to fifth-in-line to the throne Prince Harry.
Becoming one of the most talked about women in Britain, Meghan is now keenly watched for her style, with rumours already abounding over who will design her wedding dress.
Prince Harry and Meghan will live in Nottingham Cottage after they are married.
The cosy cottage is located on the grounds of grand royal estate, Kensington Palace.
The pad was previously home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge before the couple moved into a 20-room apartment inside the palace.
