Natalie Portman reveals she was ‘lured onto private jet by Hollywood producer’
NATALIE Portman has revealed she was lured on to a private jet alone with a Hollywood producer and "just one bed".
The Star Wars actress said she had "normalised" the behaviour but has spoken out after the Harvey Weinstein allegations made her realise it was "super not ok".
Portman, 36, said she had accepted a lift on the producer's plane believing the rest of his company would be on board.
But when she arrived, she realised it was just her and the producer, who she hasn't named, and "one bed made on the plane".
Portman told the "nothing happened" but she was left feeling uncomfortable by the experience.
She added: "That was really unacceptable and manipulative. I was scared.”
The Oscar-winning actress, who began acting her acting career aged just 13 in 1994 film Leon: The Professional, said people would comment on her body even as a child.
But she admitted normalising harassment and discrimination to the extent she didn't even realise it was happening.
Portman said: "I think my first reaction when I heard everybody coming out was, ‘Wow, I’m so lucky that I haven’t had this.’
"And then, on reflection, I was like, ‘OK, I definitely have never been assaulted. But I’ve had discrimination or harassment on almost everything I’ve ever worked on in some way.
"I went from thinking I don’t have a story to, ‘Oh wait, I have 100 stories'."
