Body of missing toddler Mariah Woods, 3, is found at bottom of creek 25 miles from her house
The child from North Carolina, USA, was reported missing earlier this week with her family claiming she had been abducted by a stranger.
THE body of missing toddler Mariah Woods has been recovered from the bottom of a creek.
The whereabouts of the three-year-old have been a mystery since Monday morning.
Her family, from North Carolina, USA, said she had not been seen since the night before when she was told to go back to sleep.
Authorities said the body pulled from the waterway yesterday had not been formally identified yet but were confident it was the missing tot.
A spokeswoman for the FBI said investigating dive teams located the body in Holly Shelter Creek.
The waterway is about 25 miles from Mariah's home in Jacksonville.
Earl Kimrey, 32, has been charged in connection with the death with his arrest warrant saying he had moved her body from the place where she died.
He is the live-in boyfriend of Mariah's mother Kristy and shares the family home with her three children, including Mariah.
He was arrested yesterday morning, before the body had been found, and is currently being held in custody.
He also faces criminal charges regarding larceny, breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
Earlier this week Mariah's father, who is separated from Kristy, said he did not believe Kimrey's story that the tot was abducted by a stranger.
He added: "Nobody heard anything? Four people in the house, two adults and two kids someone just comes up and snatches the baby and walks out?"
