‘Damning’ report on behaviour of Theresa May’s number two Damian Green to be published

DAMIAN Green faces a desperate fight to save his job with a “damning” sleaze report into Theresa May’s No2 expected as early as today.

Sources claimed the Cabinet Office investigation will say it is unclear whether he broke the ministerial code, which is a sackable offence.

But The Sun has been told he will face serious criticism over his actions and how he dealt with allegations against him publicly.

Downing Street is believed to have spent the past two days working on a desperate plan to keep Mr Green in his job after seeing the initial findings.

He is one of the PM’s oldest political allies and a university friend.

Allies say losing him would be a hammer blow to Mrs May, who made him her deputy after the election setback in June.

He would be the third Cabinet Minister to go in four weeks following the loss of Sir Michael Fallon and Priti Patel.

No10 refused to comment, other than to say the “process” into Mr Green, 61, was “not complete”.

He has been under double investigation for a month into alleged bad behaviour. Whitehall anti-sleaze chiefs have interviewed Kate Maltby, 31, a Tory activist who accused him of touching her leg, sending smutty texts and making passes at her.

Mr Green is also being probed over police claims they found “extreme pornography” on computers in his office during a leaks inquiry raid in 2008.

He denies all the allegations.
