Tourists arrested after baring their naked butts at sacred Thai temple
The stunt could land American couple Joseph and Travis DaSilva five years in one of Thailand's notorious prisons
A PAIR of cheeky tourists are facing five years in one of Thailand's notorious prisons - for baring their buttocks outside a sacred Buddhist temple.
Furious officials arrested American couple Joseph and Travis DaSilva on Tuesday for dropping their pants in front of the holy Wat Arun, or Temple of the Dawn.
Joseph, 38, and 36-year-old Travis, both from California, were nabbed as they tried to flee the country via Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport after their photo went viral.
The offending snap was posted on @travelling_butts, which follows the couple's adventures and bare bottoms around the globe.
District police chief Jaruphat Thongkomol told Reuters: "The two American citizens have admitted taking the pictures."
The San Diego-based couple were fined £114 and processed for deportation - but could face jail instead after cops realised they breached Thailand's Computer Crime Act, which bans pornographic pictures from being uploaded to the internet.
San Diego Commissioner Nicole Murray-Ramirez said: "Though I am very disappointed in their actions, I am talking to U.S. government officials to see what assistance we can give them."
