Mum, 45, who lost her leg in accident that killed her daughter and husband has prosthetic legs worth £30,000 stolen from car
A MUM who lost her leg in a boat tragedy that killed her husband and daughter has been dealt another devastating blow after her prosthetic legs were stolen.
Victoria Milligan, 45, was with pals at a restaurant when two men riding motorcycles and carrying knives broke into her Audi Q5.
A van driver saw the two men smash the windows and get into the boot stealing a grey Eastpak four-wheeled suitcase.
They snatched the three legs, worth nearly £30,000, before making their getaway by bike.
Victoria said: “It’s just so upsetting because they are so valuable to me, and so bespoke that you can’t just go out and buy some more, my leg needs to be recast and the legs remade which will take about three months.
“I think what they would have just done obviously is scooted off and opened it and then just dumped them somewhere.
“It was quite a big heavy bag so they probably thought they were going to get something quite valuable, but what they probably didn’t account for was three legs.”
Victoria had been on holiday in Padstow, Cornwall, with husband Nick, 51, and their four young children in 2013 when they were thrown from their speedboat.
Neither Victoria or Nick were attached to the boat's kill cord - which cuts power in an emergency - when the vessel circled out of control and hit them.
Nick and eight-year-old daughter Emily were killed and Victoria lost her left leg in the tragedy.
The mum only realised her husband was gone when she heard one of her daughters screaming "Daddy's dead, Daddy's dead".
Brave Victoria incredibly re-built her life for her three surviving children, Kit, Amber and Olivia, who were all injured in the horror.
Her blade is one she uses for her career as a personal trainer and for her motivational speaking work and she also has a mid-heel leg and a leg specially made to take high heels.
She added: “These legs make me feel like the Victoria before the accident, allowing me to run and even wear heels again.
“They are like works of art, my prosthetist and his team at The London Prosthetic Centre are geniuses, exactly matching my remaining leg down to the right skin tone and hand painted freckles.
“They are so important to me and I feel very lost without them, it is horrendous.
“They take about three months each to make, it’s a very difficult thing to match the skin tone, freckles are hand painted onto the legs.
“They allow me to be who I was, emotionally I feel very different without them."
