Donald Trump just retweeted far right propaganda by Britain First’s deputy leader Jayda Fransen – prompting fury from supporters including Piers Morgan
DONALD Trump has retweeted three posts from far-right Britain First deputy leader Jayda Fransen this morning - sparking fury among some of his supporters.
Piers Morgan, who won the Trump-hosted 2008 US Celebrity Apprentice, called for the Republican to delete the posts featuring anti-Islam propaganda videos.
The former CNN host tweeted: "Good morning, Mr President @realDonaldTrump - what the hell are you doing retweeting a bunch of unverified videos by Britain First, a bunch of disgustingly racist far-right extremists?
"Please STOP this madness & undo your retweets."
It is not clear whether it was the US President who retweeted the posts and there is speculation that his account may be have been hacked.
The first video Trump's account re-posted is captioned: "Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches."
The second post features a clip showing a Muslim man appearing to destroy a statue of the Virgin Mary.
The third and final tweet claims to show a group of men killing a youngster and is titled: "Islamist mob pushes teenage boy off roof and beats him to death."
Fransen, 31, from Penge, London, is on bail facing charges of causing religiously aggravated harassment as part of a probe into the distribution of leaflets and the posting of videos during a trial in May.
She will also appear in court in Northern Ireland in December charged with using threatening and abusive language during a speech she made at an anti-terrorism demonstration in Belfast on August 6.
Formed in 2011 by former BNP members, Britain First claim to be a political party but are best known for attention-grabbing stunts including "invading" mosques and halal slaughterhouses.
In response to the President's retweets, Frasen posted her delight at the President's retweets, writing: "God bless you Trump. God bless America."
Another prominent Trump supporter to criticise the retweets was Paul Joseph Watson - the British Editor at Large of far-right conspiracy website Info Wars.
He posted: "Yeah, someone might want to tell whoever is running Trump's Twitter account this morning that retweeting Britain First is not great optics."
Brendan Cox, the husband of murdered Labour MP Jo Cox, has slammed the firebrand Republican.
He tweeted: "Trump has legitimised the far right in his own country, now he’s trying to do it in ours. Spreading hatred has consequences & the President should be ashamed of himself."
Mrs Cox was murdered in June 2016 in West Yorkshire by Neo-nazi supporter Thomas Mair who shouted "Britain First" as he stabbed and shot her.
British MPs shouted “disgraceful” as the tweets were raised in the House Commons today after Prime Minister’s Questions.
Stephen Doughty called the comments “highly inflammatory” and Yvette Cooper slammed the “significance and seriousness” of the President giving Fransen a “huge platform”.
