THIS is the toe-curling moment a Labour MP got a public dressing-down from his wife for agreeing to a BBC interview.

Revealing footage shows former Danish PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt dragging her MP husband Stephen Kinnock to one side before hissing "why are you doing this now?" as he prepares to talk to a live camera.

Mr Kinnock, son of former Labour leader Neil Kinnock, mumbled "umm... I don't know" in response, before asking her if he should delay the interview.

The 50-year-old Dane icily replied: "Yes, you should wait... you don't know anything. It looks like we've had really good turnout here, which is amazing.

"It looks like a good turnout here. I’m hoping lots of young people have come out to vote. I’m hoping this will be a new chance for Labour.

";And we fought a positive campaign, just keep it to the campaign. Nothing about what you thought Jeremy would say. Keep it simple.

The clip is part of the BBC documentary ‘Labour – The Summer That Changed Everything’ which follows Labour MPs during the 2017 General election.

Earlier in the programme, Mr Kinnock, the MP for Aberavon, predicted the poll would "not be a good night" for Labour.

He said: "On 9 June, Jeremy is going to have to take a long look in the mirror," he said. "It will be a tough personal choice for him, I’m sure."

Despite Kinnock's predictions of a Tory landslide, Labour defied expectations and caused Theresa May to lose her majority.
