Steve McGawley had the big switch-on of his blue message in Blackpool, Lancs this week.

It marked  nearly 12 months since a run-in with police over his last festive jibe.

In December 2016, the dad-of-four was arrested over a penis-shaped light display, which also had a church bell followed by the word “end” beside it.

Steve, 44, said his latest cheeky protest is targeting Blackpool Council over traffic misery caused by works on a £21m tram track extension.

He said: “There are proper tailbacks from about 4pm until 7pm.

Steve, 44, has since tweaked his display to give a two-finger salute over the disruptive roadworks

“I think it’s a bit silly how they have put every single roadworks all at the same time, and all those people can’t get home when they have got all their kids to pick up.”

“I know people driving past could see the funny side.

“It was a really good anchor as well – I should have been an artist!”
