Up to 75,000 disability and sickness benefit claimants have been underpaid since 2011
UP to 75,000 people who claim disability and sickness benefits may have been underpaid.
It could cost up to £500million to correct the mistake.
The Department for Work and Pensions found errors paying Employment and Support Allowance to those transferred to it from incapacity benefit from 2011 to 2015.
Labour’s shadow work and pensions secretary Debbie Abrahams MP said: “It’s been one disaster after another from the DWP.”
The department has contacted about 1,000 of the people who could be affected so far, according to the BBC, and has begun making repayments.
