Britain’s ‘hottest commuters’ revealed as women share secret snaps of good-looking men they’ve papped on the Tube
Academics conducted a study of the snaps to find out what women REALLY want in a man
A WEBSITE where women are uploading secret snaps of attractive men on public transport has been trawled by academics to find what they REALLY want in a man.
The site - called Tube Crush - allows users to upload pictures of men taken on the London Underground and vote on whether they're 'hot or not'.
Now researchers from Coventry and Aberystwyth universities have crunched the website's data to find out what women in the capital are looking for in a potential partner.
Academics say signs the man is wealthy - such as expensive clothes - and a muscular physique appeared to tick the boxes of users of the site.
However, the skinnier men or more 'nerdy males' wearing glasses or shabby clothing were not rated as highly.
Lead researcher Adrienne Evans, from Coventry University's Centre for Postdigital Cultures, said the research shows tastes have not changed as much as people may believe in recent years.
She said:"From smart-suited City workers to toned gym-goers flashing their flesh, the men featured in the photographs on TubeCrush show that as a culture we still celebrate masculinity in the form of money and muscle.
"They are marking the middle-class, wealthy, mobile and sexually powerful male body, not as a political one as feminists intend it to be, but one that should be actively desired.
"This celebration of masculine capital is achieved through humour and the knowing wink, but the outcome is a reaffirmation of men's position in society.
"It's a problem as because although it appears as though we have moved forward, our desires are still mostly about money and strength."
The site was launched in 2011 and has already amassed more than 20,000 followers across Facebook and Twitter.
But critics of the site have accused it of 'reverse sexism' which would not be tolerated if it was pictures of women secretly taken by men.
