Tree surgeon almost sawed his own head off when his chainsaw kicked back and sliced into his throat while he was working
Grigore Bulbec was left dangling 20ft in the air outside a primary school just moments after he began pruning a tree
A ROMANIAN tree surgeon died after nearly sawing his own head off in a freak chainsaw accident outside a primary school, a court heard yesterday.
Grigore Bulbuc, of Beckenham, south London, was pruning a large tree in Bermondsey last February when his chainsaw "kicked back" after getting stuck in the wood, severing an artery in his neck.
Horrified colleagues watched the stricken 32-year-old dangle 20ft in the air from his safety rope moments after the accident outside Southwark Primary School.
Southwark Coroners Court heard how dad-of-one Grigore was temperately resuscitated by paramedics, but succumbed to his injuries an hour after the accident.
He had been living in the UK for the last 16 years, and had worked as a tree surgeon industry for the last decade.
His tearful brother Ioan said: "He was always so happy. He was so happy to have a little boy. His birthday was next week, he was such a happy person."
A pal added on Facebook: "Rest in peace Greg Bulbuc, an amazing bloke that sadly lost his life today while working.
"My love goes out to his family and friends, you where taken way too soon dude and you will be sadly missed."
