SERIAL killer Rose West could die from an illness she is suffering from in prison.
The 63-year-old is reported to be "very sick" but details of the exact condition have not been disclosed.
She is currently imprisoned at HMP Low Newton in Durham where guards are protecting her from the wrath of other inmates.
An insider said: "She is very ill. Her medical records are closely guarded, and she has a very small circle of staff and fellow inmates in jail, so hardly anyone knows exactly what's wrong with her."
They told the Daily Star Sunday: "But the rumour is that it's very serious, and could even finish her off.
"West's life is planned to the letter, because her notoriety makes her very vulnerable to attacks from fellow inmates.
"It also means that when she requires medical attention or prescribed drugs, the entire wing is locked down so she is not attacked while visiting the doctor or pharmacist."
In 1995 she was convicted of 10 murders after bodies were found at her home in Gloucester.
The same year her husband hung himself while awaiting trial for 12 murders.
The Ministry of Justice said they do not comment on the health of inmates.
