Mix Megapol, one of Sweden's most popular radio stations, had just finished playing Ed Sheeran and Carly Rae Jepsen when the show was interrupted by the recruitment song.

The station confirmed they were hijacked by a pirate transmitter for around 30 minutes at 8.30am on Friday morning.

The three-minute long song was played on repeat until Mix Megapol were able to regain control of transmission.

A spokesperson told 24Malmo: "This is of course very serious, particularly because they had been playing a song about ISIS recruitment.

"We see this as a very serious incident, and have therefore reported it to the police."

The station only discovered the take-over after concerned listeners phoned in.

It is not known if the hijackers were affiliated with ISIS or it was just pirate pranksters.

The Swedish Security Service says that some 300 people have left Sweden to fight for ISIS in the Middle East.

Sweden is the second place, after Belgium, for number of people who have left their home countries to fight for the terror group.
