Woman’s horror injuries after yobs lobbed a burning firework at her outside a pub

A WOMAN has been scarred for life after yobs threw a burning firework at her outside a pub.
Lauren Smith, 28, was standing outside The Midland Railway pub in Syston, Leicester, on Saturday night when vile thugs lobbed fireworks out of a car as they drove past.
Two hit the ground, but unfortunately one struck Ms Smith.
The recruitment consultant told the Leicester Mercury about the incident in a bid to highlight how dangerous fireworks can be.
She thinks the louts were trying to throw the firework inside the pub.
Her boyfriend took her A&E the next day and was treated by specialists at a wound clinic.
The wound on her right forearm will take weeks to fully heal and she will be left with a scar.
Despite the horrific events, Ms Smith says she is lucky her injuries were not worse.
She said: “I’d tied my hair up about ten minutes before, it could have got caught fire in my hair if I hadn’t.
“Had it have been a child or if it had got into a pushchair, that’s unthinkable.”
Pub manager Deborah Anderson said the people need to realise the implications of their dangerous actions.
She said: "They could have taken someone’s eye out. They could have set fire to someone’s home.
“People [at the pub] couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said the force is investigating the report.
“No arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing,” she added.
