Harvey Weinstein, Theresa May and Kim Jong-un effigies are set ablaze as millions of Brits are wowed by spectacular fireworks up and down the country on Bonfire Weekend
SHAMED movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was burnt at the stake tonight as Britain began celebrating bonfire weekend.
Tubby tyrant Kim Jong-un also found himself up in smoke along with motormouth US President Donald Trump as thousands of events lit up the chilly night.
The weekend celebrations marks the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot, an attempt by Guy Fawkes and co to overthrow the King of England by blowing up Parliament.
And to commemorate it Brits light bonfires, burn "Guys".
These can take the form of whoever is drawing fire in the public spotlight.
The most spectacular example of this unfolded in the small, picturesque town of Lewes in East Sussex which held Britain’s largest festival.
The event is celebrated with extra zeal because it commemorates the memory of seventeen protestant martyrs from the town who were burned at the stake.
It saw thousands gathering with flaming torches, marching through the street and burning effigies.
These included UK Prime Minister Theresa May and a gigantic rocket with a naked Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump strapped on.
Elsewhere a huge effigy of film producer Harvey Weinstein was burned during a fireworks display at Edenbridge Bonfire Night.
The underfire producer is depicted naked in a dressing gown clutching a Oscar statuette while holding a clipboard with “final cut” chalked on the side.
This year crowds of revellers braved bad weather which had earlier seen severe downpour.
When the rain clouds parted a chilly evening followed.
