MEDICS fear a takeaway delivery driver is likely lose his sight after being sprayed in the face with acid by thieves.

Muhammed Nawshad Kamal was left screaming in agony after the two thugs tried to steal his moped on Thursday night.

The 32-year-old had just finished dropping off a pizza in north London when the thieves, riding their own moped, demand he hand over the keys to his.

He refused to give up his £2,500 scooter and they attacked him as he banged on the door of the house in Walthamstow he had just delivered to.

However, the occupants inside were too scared to open the door and the attackers continued to drench the defenceless driver during the incident on Thursday night at 6pm.

The cruel pair are also thought to be responsible for a second acid attack that took place about half an hour later.

The victim, also a delivery driver, was treated in hospital but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of GBH and released under investigation, while police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Saturday night on the same charge.

He remains in custody at an East London police station.

Mr Kamal, who cops said inhaled “a corrosive chemical”, was fighting for his life hospital.

A source close to the investigation said: “He had his helmet open and it went in his eyes and nose.”

They are still looking for his accomplice who they believe is roughly the same age.

Mr Kamal worked for the nearby Teras Turkish Barbecue take-away and move to Britain from Bangladesh eight years ago.

The acid attack was only stopped when a woman in a nearby car called of help.

Police and the emergency services soon arrived and poured water on Mr Kamal.

His friend Imran Rumel said: “I have been to see him in hospital and he is in a terrible state … I don’t know if he will ever see again.”

Detective chief inspector Gordon Henderson said: “It is likely that he will lose sight in both eyes … We have a suspect who is 14.

“I believe that the others who may be involved are of a similar age.”

He appealed for anybody with information about the incidents to come forward.

“This attack has left a man fighting for his life … it is imperative we arrest those responsible,” he said.
