Adam Johnson’s sister Faye posts cryptic Twitter pic hinting perv could be released soon
DISGRACED Adam Johnson's sister today posted a cryptic Twitter message hinting he could be released soon.
Faye Johnson wrote "not long till we have him home where he belongs", with a loveheart emoji.
She included a picture of her brother, currently in jail, smiling while holding a baby, referred to as Lucas.
The former Sunderland and England footballer was put behind bars in March 2016 after being found guilty of grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
His family have stood by him, with his sister previously urging supporters to change their Facebook profile pictures to one of Johnson and his daughter, with a slogan of his innocence.
Now she has sent out a possible hint that the player could be back with his family soon.
Earlier this year the shamed footballer had started an appeal bid and on January 30 Johnson's sister confirmed he had a date set for his second appeal as he aims to overturn his conviction.
Faye Johnson tweeted: “I hope that justice can finally be done for my brother.”
His case was heard before the Court of Appeal in London on March 16 but Johnson's double application was dismissed by three judges.
At the time of his arrest he was earning £60,000 a week playing for the Black Cats.
He was then sacked by the club after he pleaded guilty to grooming and sexual activity with a minor.
He admitted two of the charges and in March 2016 he was found guilty of sexual activity with the child and sentenced to six years in prison.
He was cleared of one charge relating to another sexual act.
After sentencing Johnson was held at HM Prison Leeds and then moved to HM Prison Moorland near Doncaster.
His ex Stacey Flounders was pictured arriving at her new job last month amid claims she is "struggling" since her split from the disgraced footballer.
She signed up for 16 hours a week at Evolve Group in Sunderland - a Data Cabling, IT Support and IT Hosting company.
