A LITTLE girl whose mum and dad died within weeks of each other has prayed for them to be re-united in heaven at one of their funerals.
Brave Keeva Stewart, 10, stood up to address tearful mourners as she laid her mum to rest the Church of Our Lady Immaculate in Dublin.
The schoolgirl said she hoped they could now "enjoy eternal life" together, according to .
Karen Stewart, 36, passed away at her mum's home last Friday just weeks after burying her husband Ed who lost his battle with terminal pancreatic cancer in August.
The tragic couple have left behind three young children –Finn, eight, Erin, four, and Keeva.
Karen had previously beaten neuroblastoma on two occasions having first been diagnosed at the age of just 20.
Having successfully overcome the disease through chemotherapy, it returned when she was 32 having just given birth to Erin.
Brave Karen defeated her illness again, only for it to return once more at the beginning of this year.
And doctors told the mum the devastating news that this time it was incurable.
Within months, her husband Ed was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in May.
The 42-year-old sadly lost his battle at a hospice in August.
Speaking at Karen's funeral, her aunt Gina said: “The only comfort we can find at the moment is that she is now with Ed, her son Aron and her father James.
“Ed probably thought he was going to get a break up there but Karen probably has him running around right now.”
Before their tragic deaths, the couple, from Coolock, North Dublin, vowed to
Speaking last July, Karen urged other parents to go straight to their GP if they are feeling unwell and to make as many memories as possible with their family.
She told RSVP magazine: “If you have pain, go get it checked, if you have a lump get it checked.
“It might be nothing but could be something. Don’t leave it until it’s too late.
“If you have a pain, especially if you have it weeks, you should seek medical advice.”
After Ed's death in Auguest, Karen paid tribute to
She said: “He was one in a million. He was so good to me. I wouldn’t ever have to lift a finger. He wouldn’t stop, even to the last day he was still looking after me and the kids.
“So he was a great father, he practically reared the baby because I was in hospital.
“We’ve been through so much together and he stuck with me.
“He was just great, I don’t have a bad thing to say about him. Everyone loved him.
“He really was one of a kind. I’d never get another one like him and I know I wouldn’t.”
Friends and family of the late couple have set up a GoFundMePage to help raise money for the pair's children.
The page reads: “It is with great sadness that I update you to let you all know that sadly Karen Nicholson Stewart Passed away peacefully at her Mum's home on Friday October 20, 2017, just before 6pm.
“Karen was surrounded by her children and her amazing family. Karen can finally rest in peace and join her wonderful husband Ed who passed away on the August 4, 2017.
“They were an amazing couple devoted to each other and their children.
“I made a promise to Karen in early September that I would keep this fund going for her children and that is what I intend to do until we reach the goal.
“These three little children have lost both parents months apart - something most of us are still struggling to get our heads around.
