A BBC newsreader has revealed the due date of the Duchess of Cambridge - in one of the most sarcastic ways possible.
Presenter Simon McCoy couldn't hide his disdain for the "breaking news" announcement that the royal couple would be expecting their third child in April.
Reading the announcement on air, veteran journalist McCoy pointed out: "Now, bearing in mind that they announced that she was pregnant back in September and it was thought that she was around two or three months pregnant, I’m not sure how much news this really is."
He added: "But anyway, it's April so clear your diaries, get the time booked off 'cause that's what I'm doing."
The announcement came with a breaking news banner on the screen to hammer home the news.
Viewers were quick to pick up on McCoy's dry humour, with one writing on social media: "You make me belly laugh", while another said: "If there was one person I wanted to deliver this news, it was absolutely @BBCSimonMcCoy."
It's not the first time that Simon McCoy has made headlines for his dry wit when reading the news, with the presenter unimpressed with a recent story on the World Dog Surfing Championships.
The hard-hitting anchor, who spent much of the 2003 Iraq invasion reporting from the front lines, presented the pictures of the Californian event, saying: "Now, you’re watching BBC News, just bear in mind it is August."
The latest royal news to be released today appears to confirm that Prince William and Kate conceived on their trip to Poland in July — where she was seen avoiding alcohol.
Kate had hinted she wanted more kids during the Royal visit to Warsaw with Wills, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Announcing the pregnancy last month, Kensington Palace said: “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
And Clarence House said of grandparents Charles and Camilla: “They are delighted.”
Prince Harry said he was “very, very happy” at the prospect of becoming an uncle for the third time.
The baby announcement was made after Kate cancelled a planned visit to a children’s centre because she was suffering a crippling morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum.
She had it during her previous pregnancies carrying Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
During the visit Kate had given the first inkling that another Royal baby might be on the cards — after she was handed a toy in Warsaw that was intended for newborns.
THRONE WAIT See who’s ahead and behind William and Kate’s third child in line for the Royal throne
She laughed and said to William: “We will just have to have more babies.”
While on the trip Kate also avoided alcohol, in line with medical advice for women hoping to conceive.
On the first day, she barely touched a glass of wine at a reception in honour of the Queen.
The baby – their third after George, four, and Charlotte, two, will be fifth in line to the throne, pushing uncle Prince Harry into sixth place.
This week Kate, 35, made a rare public appearance and appeared to be on fine form, dancing with an actor in a Paddington Bear suit.
