Heartbreaking tributes to teenage girl Maisy Lewis, 14, found dead in woods in Cheshire

Police are not treating the death as suspicious after the girl's body was found in Runcorn on Sunday morning

THIS is the teen girl who was found dead in woodland in Cheshire yesterday morning.

Police sealed off an area of parkland in Sandymoor near Runcorn after 14-year-old Maisie Lewis was found dead by dog walkers.

Investigators are not currently treating her death as suspicious.

Last night, heartbroken friends held a vigil at a nearby park for the popular teenager.

Flowers and balloons were laid and candles were placed in the shape of an M.

A witness told the : "Hundreds of kids turned up and let off lanterns, stood with candles and sang - it was touching.”

Pals described her as a "gorgeous" and "beautiful" friend who was "taken too soon".

Friend Katie Bresnan said: "She had such a lovely send off by all her amazing friends...RIP Maisy Lewis you will be truly missed, such a heartbreaking day for so many of us."

Another friend, Abbie Fisher, wrote on Facebook: "See you soon babe lots of love to you and your family. Fly high gorgeous and miss you forever".

Nicole Jones said: "Worst news. RIP Maisy Lewis you will always be remembered...heaven has gained an angel."

Jasmine Matthews said: "Rest in peace to a very beautiful girl, taken far too early Maisy! We will all miss you forever."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 9.09am on Sunday 15 October police were called following the discovery of a body near Walsingham Drive, Runcorn.

“Officers attended the scene where they found the body of a 14-year-old girl.

"Next of kin has been informed and a post mortem will take place in due course.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
