The clip was shot by a motorist in Glasgow and uploaded with the caption: "Troops away to the jail no giving a f***."

Since then it has been shared on various Scottish Facebook groups - attracting over 100,000 views.

The large, G4S van was filmed in the city's Castle Street yesterday. The prisoners, who are usually locked inside individual cells inside the wagon, keep up a steady beat as bemused motorists look on.

The clip is though to have been filmed during the morning rush hour as the van made its way either to the High Court two miles away or the Sheriff Court four miles away.

Hundreds of social media users have taken to the video to share their hilarity over the clip.

Jordan Clayton-Nelson, from New Zealand but living in Brisbane, Australia, wrote: “Are you people capable of NOT raving???”

Davie Murphy wrote: “Some folk have just got no shame at all.”

And Sian Robertson said: “Only in Scotland.”

And one Scot took to Twitter, writing: “No f***s given.”

G4S was the first private company in the UK to be awarded a contract to undertake court services and prisoner escorting in 1993.

They support the Scottish Prison Service with prisoner management and movement activities across Scotland, including children and young person escorting requirements.

With a fleet of over 140 specialised vehicles serving more than 60 court locations throughout the country, they transport 180,000 prisoners each year.

Last year, a massive manhunt was launched after convict Anthony Ferrie 'forced himself out of a G4S van' and fled.

He escaped while out on a hospital visit to St John’s, Livingston, West Lothian, leaving two G4S officers injured.

He was found by cops over a week later at a house in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

In 2010 an inmate being taken from Addiewell Prison, West Lothian, to Shotts Prison, North Lanarkshire, escaped from a Reliance prison van when it was stopped at traffic lights.

The man ran off into fields near Breich, West Lothian and was on the run for 15 minutes before being captured by police.

The Scottish Government said the impromptu rave was a matter for the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).

A spokeswoman for the SPS said it was not something they would comment on as "it happens every day".
