A CYCLIST yob on an illegal brake-less bike who ploughed into a boy leaving him with life-changing injuries has been jailed.

Richard Manners was riding in a pedestrian zone when he hit Matteo Carlucci, four.

He was hurled into a bollard and got tangled in the front wheel.

The lad was left with a permanent dent in his head. He was rushed to hospital in agony after also breaking his arm, losing a tooth and being left covered in friction burns on his face.

Matteo was set to visit Legoland, in Windsor, Berks with his parents Davide Carlucci and Stella Watson on March 31 last year.

He was walking ahead of them when his mum saw Manners speeding towards her son and screamed: “Matteo, bike!” before watching the crash in horror.

His dad said he thought he was dead until he heard him scream.

Stella, of Dunfermline, Scotland, said: “Once the swelling and bruising went down I noticed a dent on Matteo’s head.

“It is a constant reminder of what happened.”

She said he’d pleaded with her to keep the crash a secret, saying: “Do not tell them about the man on the bike.”

“We saw a bike on the road the other day and he got such a start that he started crying uncontrollably,” Stella, of Dunfirmline, Scotland added.

“As a mother I have seen my child suffer in so many ways. His fear has built up after this incident.”

Manners, of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, mouthed “f**k you” at the prosecution barrister and cops during the hearing.

But he admitted a charge of causing bodily harm by wilful misconduct and was jailed for 27 weeks.

Manners’ sentence comes after Charlie Alliston, 20, was jailed for 18 months after killing Kim Briggs, 44, on a similar bike.

He was convicted last month of causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving in East London
