Donald Trump says Rex Tillerson is ‘wasting his time’ trying to negotiate with ‘Little Rocket Man’ Kim Jong-un

The US president hit out at predecessors Barack Obama and Bill Clinton for failing to crack down on the rogue state

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has sparked fears of nuclear war after unleashing a bizarre Twitter rant about North Korean despot Kim Jong-Un.

The billionaire businessman wrote: "I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man", using his sarcastic nickname for the tubby dictator.

Top US diplomat Tillerson disclosed on Saturday that he was directly communicating with North Korean officials on its nuclear and missile programs, but conceded that Pyongyang had shown no interest in dialogue.

"Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!" Trump added.

He later tweeted that his White House predecessors, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, had all "failed" on North Korea by "Being nice to Rocket Man," asking "why would it work now?"

The rant comes just days after Kim Jong-Un described the US President as a "mentally deranged dotard" in a rambling TV interview, prompting Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov to hit out at the two leaders for being childish.

Mr Lavrov said that action is needed "to calm down the hotheads".

He added: "Yes, it's unacceptable to silently watch North Korea's nuclear military adventures but it is also unacceptable to unleash war on the Korean Peninsula.

"Together with China we'll continue to strive for a reasonable approach and not an emotional one like when children in a kindergarten start fighting and no-one can stop them."
