Theresa May offered ‘resilience training’ by SAS after she repeatedly broke down in tears following election

It's claimed the Prime Minister had to have her make-up re-done before visiting the Queen, as she'd cried so much

THERESA May repeatedly broke down in tears after losing her Commons majority in June’s disastrous election, it has emerged.

The PM even had to have her make-up re-done before visiting the Queen as she had cried so much.

No10 insiders feared she may not have been able to continue after enduring a “crisis of confidence”.

One aide said: “She looked tired and I don’t think she was thinking straight.”

The revelations appear in a new book by Sunday Times political editor Tim Shipman.

One official even suggested that Mrs May seek help from the SAS about “resilience” in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire, days after the election, to boost her confidence. She was described as looking “absolutely beaten”.

It also emerged that the Queen’s courtiers could not get clear answers from No10 on the Tories’ post-election deal with the DUP.

The royal aides were furious that Mrs May told the Queen  a deal was in place, only for it to take 17 days.
