One dead after M4 crash between car and lorry which shut road for ‘several hours’
Two other men were injured in the collision but their condition is thought not to be life threatening
ONE person has died and another is seriously injured after a horror smash on the M4 between a lorry and a car.
The major motorway was shut for several hours while police investigate causing traffic chaos this morning.
Emergency services were scrambled at around 5am and discovered a Nissan Qashqai and lorry were involved in a collision.
Two other men were injured but their are not thought to be in a life threatening condition.
The crash took place at around 5am at junction 17 of the motorway at Leigh Delamere in Wiltshire.
The road was shut westbound between junction 17 and junction 18 at Bath but Wiltshire Police have confirmed the road has since reopened.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to the scene, near to Leigh Delamere services, shortly after 5am this morning following a collision involving a Nissan Qashqai and a lorry.
“The man, who was travelling in the Nissan, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Formal identification has not yet taken place. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
“Two other males received injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101.
