First pictures of ‘devoted’ mum-of-three cop, 39, found ‘murdered’ at Poynton Park lake in Cheshire
Body of Greater Manchester Police officer Leanne McKie, 39, was recovered in the early hours of this morning
THESE are the first pictures of a tragic police officer who was found "murdered" in a lake in Cheshire.
Mum-of-three Leanne McKie, 39, was a serving detective constable with Greater Manchester Police.
Her body was found at Poynton Park Lake near Macclesfield, Cheshire, at 3.45am on Friday morning.
Within hours police had arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of her murder.
Friends said the devoted mum was a "perfect" parent who "doted" on her children.
One former neighbour said: “I can’t believe it. It’s terrible. She was a lovely woman with a young family. It’s too awful for words.”
Locals said she and husband Darren, 43 — a police sergeant — had moved into their detached home in Wilmslow only a few weeks ago after renovating it while living in a rented property nearby.
Leanne's Facebook page had dozens of touching family snaps including a man believed to be her 43-year-old husband Darren.
One pal described them as "such a beautiful beautiful family".
Detective Inspector Adam Waller of Cheshire Police said: "Leanne was a mother of three young children and a serving police officer in Greater Manchester Police.
"Our thoughts at this difficult time are with Leanne's family, friends and colleagues."
Last night a police cordon remained in place around the popular beauty spot.
Earlier Det Insp Waller said: “Investigations into her death are currently ongoing and we are working hard to establish the circumstances.
"I would like reassure local residents that at this stage this appears to be an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to her death.
"I would urge also to ask anyone who believes they may have witnessed what happened, saw anything suspicious or unusual, or has any information which could assist officers with their enquiries, to contact us on 101."
