Kensington MP in royal slur row insists she was RIGHT to claim Prince Harry can’t fly a helicopter

THE Labour MP who made false slurs against Prince Harry refused to back down and apologise today – insisting he can’t fly an Apache helicopter himself.

Emma Dent Coad said she'd been told the false claims were true as Shadow Cabinet ministers called on the anti-Royal Labour MP to explain herself.

Ms Dent Coad was subject to a torrent of fury after The Sun revealed her remarks in a fringe meeting at the Labour conference in Brighton.

Emma Dent Coad, 62, wrongly told an anti-monarchy event at Labour’s conference that Harry could not fly an Apache helicopter, adding: “He just sits there going, ‘Vroom vroom’.”

She said although she could not prove the claim she had been told it was "absolute fact".

Today the unrepentant Kensington MP moaned she’d been subjected to “all sorts of vile abuse” which had “opened the gates to hell” following her fake news comments at a fringe meeting during Labour conference.

She told the BBC's Daily Politics: "Somebody else will tell me whether or not that's true but I've been told that's an absolute fact that somebody sits beside him and drives the helicopters for him."

But Tory MP for Lewes Maria Caulfield called on her to quit.

She said: "Dent Coad should resign - she has betrayed her parliamentary oath."

Tory MPs accused her of disrespecting the Armed Forces with her dismissive comments, while her Labour colleagues moved to distance themselves from her.

But shadow education secretary Angela Rayner said the Kensington MP was "entitled to an opinion".
